1st lambs are on the ground. Bobolink had twins while I went to the dump. Black one is a dude, white is a girl.
Fresh and hot!
They seem to have the lamb thing down, and Bob has always been a good mother...
now we have to think about names... 16 more are expected...
UPDATE: They are named Summer and Morty.

16 more? Damn? Is that the usual size of a lamb litter?
What do you do with them? Sheer for wool or use for a food source?

we have nine pregnant ewes, according to the ultrasound scanning performed in January, we have a couple of quads and triplets in the works, and at least one singe, so we are expecting a total lamb ratio of approximately 2 lambs: 1 ewe (possibly higher). The quads and triplets may be too much for their moms to handle, sheep only have two teats. Twins is an ideal ratio... we may have bottle lambs living in the house this weekend.
They are dual use, wool and meat. We have registered, pure-bred pedigree Blue-Faced Leicesters (a meat sheep with good wool) and Cromo-cross fine-wool “mutt” sheep (fine-wool sheep with good meat growth).

I grew up on a sheep farm (did 10 years in 4-H). While I thought lambing season was great as a kid, I started dreading it by the time I was in high school because we had grown from a handful of ewes to close to 100. 180-220 lambs per year was the norm. We had mostly Suffolk show sheep. Bottle lambs running around in diapers inside are the cutest!
